This project automates the retrieval and processing of real-time bike-share metadata from across Canada. By querying the General Bikeshare Feed Specification (GBFS) registry, the system filters and extracts key infrastructure data exclusively for Canadian providers—such as BIXI in Montreal and Bike Share Toronto.
The pipeline first identifies all active domestic networks before merging live station status with static location data. This serves as a foundational step for analyzing urban mobility patterns and station availability through interactive mapping and data visualization across the country’s diverse transit landscapes.
The analysis phase transitions from data collection to spatial evaluation by synthesizing station information and real-time status feeds. By calculating station density and availability metrics, the project concludes with interactive map visualizations that highlight service coverage and network health. This exploratory data analysis provides a unified view of Canadian bikeshare infrastructure, identifying trends in equipment distribution and docking patterns.
